Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser Heading to Shreveport for Historic Red River Revel Milestone
The season's celebration is reaching a legendary climax! For 50 years, the Red River Revel has transformed downtown Shreveport into a vibrant hub of art, music, food, and community. Now, as Revel 50 enters its epic final weekend from October 15th through the 18th, the entire State of Louisiana is officially pausing to celebrate.
On Thursday, October 15 at 8 p.m., Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser will take the Chase Main Stage to honor five decades of cultural heritage right before LSU-formed alt-rock icons Better Than Ezra tear down the house.
To top off the historic 50th year, State Senator Thomas Pressly helped secure a $50,000 state appropriation signed by the governor to ensure Northwest Louisiana’s favorite festival keeps thriving for generations to come.
"Every person who has volunteered, exhibited, performed, or simply shown up over the past 50 years earned this recognition," shared Executive Director Logan Lewis.
The incredible second-weekend lineup doesn't stop there:
Friday, October 16th: Austin’s nine-piece "swamp-funk" powerhouse Shinyribs, fronted by Shreveport’s own Kevin Russell.
Saturday, October 17th: The Highland Collective featuring Dylan LeBlanc, Seratones, Maggie Koerner, and friends for a 3.5-hour local songwriter celebration.
Sunday, October 18th: Legendary 1983 Shreveport soul and R&B favorites Windstorm close out Revel 50.
Between massive exhibits like the 4,000-student Fourth Grade Pixel Art project, hands-on stained glass workshops, and food booths galore, Festival Plaza is the only place to be this weekend.
Gates open daily at 11 a.m. Admission is FREE before 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday ($10 after 5 p.m. and all weekend; kids 12 & under are free!). Grab your crew, head downtown, and let’s make history together!
