Calling all Dolly lovers! The time has come for us to get together as a community and celebrate our absolute queen of everything. Starting September 4th, the Robinson Film Center is bringing one of her most iconic roles back to the big screen: the unforgettable Truvy in Steel Magnolias.

What makes this extra special for us is that this classic was filmed right down the road in Natchitoches, making it a true North Louisiana treasure. As Truvy famously said, “Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion,” and you can bet we’re going to feel all of it.

Dolly Parton is a true legend. Her music, movies, larger-than-life talent, and bubbly personality are beloved around the world. Still, her incredible heart, especially through her Imagination Library program, is what leaves a lasting legacy. To honor that passion for literacy, RFC is partnering with United Way of Northwest Louisiana for a children’s book drive during the screenings from September 4th through September 6th, Every book you donate right in the RFC lobby will help bring the joy of reading to a child in our community.

While you're catching a screening, it is also the perfect time to become an RFC member. Big, exciting things are happening at the Robinson! It has long been one of the most unique independent movie theaters in the country, blending film education, community events, and local economic development. As a two-screen, non-profit theater, RFC relies on memberships, sponsorships, and community support to thrive. They recently announced some exciting changes ahead, including plans to lease their upstairs space, Abby Singer's Bistro, to a third-party operator to bring even more flavor to downtown.

Come out, donate a book, and celebrate a beloved icon with Steel Magnolias on the big screen! Grab your tickets and check showtimes by clicking here.
