Taqueria El Eden Shreveport: The Viral Birria Pizza You Have to Try
I will forever remember the day my neighbor tried to tell me he found one of the absolute best taco spots in Shreveport. Naturally, as someone who considers themselves a local food expert, I brushed it off. I figured if there were a taco shop that good hiding in plain sight, I would already know all about it, right?
I was dead wrong.
It has been three years since I finally gave in, and Taqueria El Eden has easily become my go-to spot whenever I’m craving the best tacos al pastor in the Twin Cities.
On my very first visit, I decided to put them to the ultimate test and ordered the Enmoladas. Mole is one of my all-time favorite dishes, but it is notoriously easy to mess up and surprisingly hard to find done right around Shreveport-Bossier. Just in case the mole fell short, I ordered a couple of street tacos as a backup plan. One bite in, and I was hooked: the mole was rich and delicious, and those tacos were hands-down some of the most authentic street-style tacos I’d ever tasted in North Louisiana. Eating here feels like a quick culinary trip straight to Mexico City.
While their street tacos and well-seasoned, generously stuffed birria tacos are already worth celebrating, they aren’t the only reason this spot is going viral on local social media feeds right now.
That honor belongs to their famous Birria Pizza, and after trying it, I totally get the hype.
This monstrous creation is not for rookies. Built using two giant flour tortillas loaded to the absolute brim with tender birria, melted cheese, fresh cilantro, and onions, it easily feeds a group of four. Served alongside a rich, warm cup of consomé for dipping, every single bite delivers on flavor.
Ready to see what the buzz is about? You can try it for yourself by dropping into Taqueria El Eden, located at 1236 Shreveport Barksdale Hwy, Shreveport, LA 71105.
