Traffic On Red River Bridge Could Get Painful This Weekend
You know that the traffic outlook is dismal when the fastest mode of transportation in an area is an electric moped, but that's about where we are in Bossier City.
And the latest announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development doesn't make the situation any brighter.
We've just learned the DOTD is planning intermittent lane closures on the US 80 (Texas Street) bridge over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes for the purpose of routine bridge inspection.
Those lane closures have been scheduled for Saturday, July 13th and Sunday, July 14th, as well as Saturday, July 20th and Sunday, July 21st.
Of course, the DOTD is conducting a number of other routine bridge inspections throughout the area including:
- Monday, July 15: US 84 (E. Carrol Street) bridge over the Red River in Coushatta, Red River Parish.
- Tuesday, July 16: I-20 bridge over Lakeshore Drive and KCS Railroad tracks in Shreveport, Caddo Parish. This bridge is located just west of the I-20/I-49 interchange.
- Saturday, July 20: I-49 northbound and southbound bridge over KCS Railroad tracks and various city streets. This bridge is located just south of LA 511 (70th Street).
DOTD advises that on the Texas Street Bridge, inspection crews from a consultant will be on site conducting this inspection. Please drive cautiously through the work zone, slow down, remove all distractions, and never drive while impaired.
As with all DOTD projects, this work will be performed "Weather Permitting", so inclement weather could delay, extend or alter the expected work schedule.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
