Webster Parish Bridge Over I-20 Immediately Closed For Emergency
In a late Sunday afternoon announcement from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development we learn that traffic in Webster Parish near I-20 has a brand new wrinkle.
In the DOTD notice, motorists are advised that effective immediately, the LA 531 bridge over I-20 near Minden in Webster Parish is temporarily closed.
This closure is necessary to allow for emergency repairs to the bridge deck. This work is scheduled to begin this morning, Monday, July 15th, and will require the closure of the bridge for approximately two days.
As a reminder, this bridge is in the process of being replaced, with the new structure currently under construction adjacent to the existing bridge.
This is a total bridge closure on LA 531. All vehicles will need to utilize an alternate route for the duration of repairs.
This work will be performed, weather permitting, so inclement weather could postpone, prolong or modify expected work days/hours for the project.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
Area residents should exercise caution when driving, walking, or biking near an active construction zone.
