We all know that the odds of hitting the Mega Millions jackpot here in Texas are not very good, but you know, you can’t win if you don’t play.

For most Texans spending a few dollars on a Mega Millions ticket is more about the fun of thinking about what you would do with all that money if you won.

Although we would all love to cash that winning ticket one day.

But if you haven’t heard yet, the cost of a Mega Millions ticket will be going up soon, and the increase is rather large.

How Much Will the Mega Millions Tickets Cost After the Price Increase?

Currently you can stop and grab a Mega Millions ticket and it will only cost you $2, or $3 if you want the Megaplier.

But if you want to buy that same ticket beginning in April it’s going to cost $5 per play.

This is only the second time that the Mega Millions has increased the cost of their ticket, with the first time being in 2017.

Why the Mega Millions Change?

The lottery says the change should help increase a player's chances of winning a jackpot, increase the number of jackpots they pay out, and the game should pay out larger jackpots.

The lottery says it expects more billion-dollar winners soon.

Get Your Cheaper Tickets Now

You still have the rest of March to buy tickets before the cost of each ticket increases.

But remember to gamble responsibly, your current odds of winning the jackpot is 1 in 302,575,350.
