If you’ve lived in Texas for any amount of time, there’s a very good chance you’ve been to the most dangerous city in the state. In fact, there’s a good chance you live there. 

There are many reasons I chose to put down roots out here in the sticks. One of those reasons is safety. I realize bad things happen in even the smallest of towns, but the likelihood of trouble is much lower. 

I gave big city living a try when I moved to Arlington in my twenties, but it just wasn’t for me. I made it about two years before I moved back to my hometown of Vernon, Texas, which has a population of about 12,000 people.

These days I call Wichita Falls home – have since 2009. I find it to be a happy medium between a small town and a big city. There are plenty of employment and entertainment options, but it still has the feel of a small town. 

But I will say this about the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – I don’t recall ever feeling like I was in danger. I moved away mostly because of the high cost of living and the horrible traffic conditions. 

That said, Dallas was ranked the most dangerous city in Texas by Kangaroo.

Big D was ranked most dangerous due to its high violent crime rate, including murder and robbery. In fact, Dallas has one of the highest crime rates in the entire state.
