It appears folks in Texas aren’t incredibly honest when it comes to online dating.

I’m so glad I have zero experience in the online dating world. I have friends who have dipped their toe in it and most ended up with someone they met in person.

Certainly, it works for some people, but I’ve heard more bad stories than good, so there’s that. And those negative stories usually involve some deception.

You’ve probably heard many of those online dating horror stories as well. The most common I’ve heard involves people looking way different in real life.

A recent study by DatingAdvice.com found that 22% of respondents were concerned about people being dishonest about real-life appearances. But that’s not the biggest concern when it comes to online dating.

The study found that 32% of those participating in the study were concerned about people being dishonest about their relationship status. It would be wise to do some digging to ensure a potential mate isn’t already married or committed to someone.

Also, 30% were concerned that others were lying about their age. This, of course, is a concern that predates the age of online dating.

How honest are Texans when it comes to online dating?

Singles in the Lone Star State were given a score of 4.8 out of 10. That’s below the national average of 5.1. So, be careful, fellow Texans. There’s a good chance your potential mate may not be telling the whole truth.
