Did You Know Val Kilmer & 50 Cent Filmed Together in Shreveport?
It wasn't that long ago that it wasn't unusual to spot Hollywood celebrities around town like Gerard Butler, Kevin Costner, Demi Moore, and Sandra Bullock. And hopefully, with Curtis Jackson's G-Unit Studios firing up with movie and television productions, it won't be an uncommon sight again soon.
But speaking of Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, did you know that he has already filmed a movie in Shreveport? And it was co-starring none other than the legendary actor Val Kilmer.

The film was 2009's Streets of Blood, a low-budget, direct-to-video feature set it New Orleans. Jackson & Kilmer both played detectives in New Orleans investigating the murder of an undercover narcotics officer. The film also reunited Kilmer with his Tombstone co-star Michael Biehn, who played Johnny Ringo.
Unfortunately, the Millennium Studios low-budget "Streets of Blood" certainly doesn't rank up there with some of Kilmer's legendary work like Top Gun, The Doors, and of course, the aforementioned Tombstone, only garnering a 4.4 out of 10 on IMDB.
A Brief Retrospective on Val Kilmer's Film Career
Kilmer's first listing on IMBD is 1984's Top Secret! A silly follow-up from the same people who made the original "Airplane." He really came into the spotlight the next year with "Real Genius," where he played Chris Knight, a college... well.. genius. The film was much better done than some of the other 80's trashy romps of the day.
But it was the next year that Kilmer had his biggest success to date in 1986's Top Gun, cementing him as a heart-throb and genuine Hollywood movie star. He also turned in respectful performances in the 80's and 90's in films like "Willow", "Thunderheart", and "Kill Me Again," before his success in smash hits like "The Doors", "Tombstone," "Batman Forever," and "Heat", all in the 90's.
Kilmer Pretty Much Kept to Himself During Shreveport Filming
During his time in Shreveport filming "Streets of Blood," Kilmer was known to spend a lot of time to himself, in his trailer on set, or sometimes seen running through the Shreveport streets during breaks in filming.
Local business owner Thomas Avallone, who owns Maccentric, an Apple authorized repair center in Shreveport, recounts his personal experience with Kilmer during filming.
Back in 2008, he was here in Shreveport working on a movie with 50 Cent called "Microwave Park", which was eventually renamed "Streets of Blood." He was having trouble with his Macbook Pro and we were called to the set. We determined the hard drive had failed. He didn't care about waiting on a part for the warranty, he just wanted it done fast and also didn't want the computer to leave his trailer. So we replaced the hard drive in his trailer and performed data recovery from the faulty drive as he was being fitted for costumes and rehearsed for the better part of a day. He was very soft-spoken, intense, and very tall. Thomas Avallone
