Reports of large drone activity near Barksdale Air Force Base are getting a lot of attention in the Shreveport-Bossier area, and now Louisiana Sen. John Kennedy says he expects to learn more soon.

Kennedy told KEEL News on Wednesday that he has seen the reports about the drones but has not yet received a full explanation. He said he is scheduled for a classified briefing next week and hopes to get answers about what has been happening over Barksdale.

Kennedy told KEEL he is still waiting on details and, for now, knows no more than the public does. He said he has not personally seen the drones because he has been in Washington, but the reports have his attention.

What stood out most is that Kennedy suggested there may already be an explanation behind the scenes. He stressed that this is his assumption, but he said he believes officials may know what the drones are and simply cannot discuss it publicly because of national security concerns.

That will not do much to calm nerves in Bossier City and Shreveport, where questions have been building ever since reports surfaced about multiple large drones near the base over several days.

Why This Matters Around Barksdale

This story feels different than the average drone sighting. People in this area already know airspace around Barksdale is tightly controlled. Hobby drones and casual flights are not treated lightly near the base.

That is why the reported activity has raised concerns locally. If these aircraft were operating in restricted or sensitive airspace, residents want to know how it happened, who was behind it, and whether there is any threat to the public or to one of the nation’s most important military installations.

Kennedy said that concern is justified. He said if the people he represents are worried, then he is worried too.

Kennedy said he plans to get answers in his upcoming briefing and, if he is allowed to talk about what he learns, he intends to share as much as he can.

Even if the details remain classified, his comments suggest this issue is being taken seriously at a high level.

For people in Northwest Louisiana, that may be the biggest takeaway right now. There are still more questions than answers, but this is no longer just rumor or internet chatter. Louisiana’s senior senator says he is actively seeking a briefing, and Barksdale drone reports are now clearly on the federal radar. Pun intenended....
