Caddo D.A. Seeks Death Penalty in Officer’s Murder Case
The Caddo District Attorney is seeking the death penalty against the north Caddo man accused of killing a Vivian police officer.
District Attorney James Stewart Sr. says he will pursue a capitol murder case against 58-year-old Nicholas Edward Alexander of Vivian. Alexander is accused of firing the shots that killed 25-year-old Vivian Police Officer Marc Brock on November 14 of 2025.

What Were the Circumstances of this Case
Brock and another Vivian officer were at the Alexander home to serve an arrest warrant for cyberstalking. After the officers announced themselves and tried to get into the home, Alexander fired two shotgun blasts through the closed front door, striking and critically wounding Brock who died later that night.
D.A. Stewart says "this case involves the killing of a law enforcement officer who was performing his duty to protect the community. Our office is committed to pursuing justice for Officer Brock, his family, and the community he served."
Alexander was indicted by a Caddo Parish Grand Jury on February 10, 2026, on one count of first-degree murder and the three related misdemeanor charges.

On March 10, 2026, the District Attorney’s Office formally filed notice of its intent to seek the death penalty related to the first-degree murder charge involving Officer Brock.
Under Louisiana law, the killing of a peace officer is punishable by life in prison at hard labor without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence or by death, in accordance with the determination of the jury.
Brock has been honored by law enforcement agencies across the region for his heroic service to the community.
