The Caddo Parish Sheriff's Office is reporting that a Caddo School Resource Officer has stopped a potentially deadly situation at a Caddo Parish School.

According to a statement issued by Sherriff Steve Prator's Office, a 19 year old student at a local school has been arrested after allegedly threating to kill a coach. Detectives say the incident started in the school gym after the Coach asked 19 year old Caleb Steven Morris to quit vaping on campus. KSLA reports that the incident took place at Southwood High School.

Morris allegedly told the coach "I am going to kill you" before leaving the gym and going to his car. A teacher contacted the School Resource Officer about the incident.

SRO Calvin Williams stopped Morris from re-entering the school. During a search of Morris, Deputy Williams found a fully loaded Glock 9mm pistol in his possession.

Morris was immediately arrested and charged with one count of Terrorizing, one count aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon and one count of possession of a weapon in a gun free zone. The investigation into the incident is on-going.

Sheriff Prator issued the following statement about the incident:

“I am extremely proud of the quick and decisive action Deputy Williams took. I truly believe that he saved both faculty and possibly students from death or serious bodily harm today.”
