SHREVEPORT, LA - Louisiana is the 31st most expensive state for household bills, according to a newly released report.
The “State by State Bill Pay Market 2024” report by doxo, an online bill pay provider, finds that Louisiana residents spend $1,977, on average, per month on the 10 most common household bills. That comes out to $23,720 per year.

Household bills account for 40% of annual household income of $59,359 in Louisiana.
What Bills Account for Most of the Spending in Louisiana?
According to the report, Louisiana residents pay an average of $1,265 for a mortgage and $1,014 for rent. Bayou State residents pay on average, $517 a month for car loans, as well as $329 for utilities (electric, gas, water and sewer, and waste and recycling), $134 for health insurance, $203 for auto insurance, $131 for cable and internet, $114 for mobile, $81 for alarm and security, and $71 per month for life insurance.
