National Weather Service Says Severe Weather Potential Tonight

The threat of severe weather returns to the Ark-La-Tex tonight, as much of the country faces another outbreak of strong storms.

The National Weather Service in Shreveport has indicated that the entire Ark-La-Tex region will be under threat for severe weather tonight. Including stretches from Lufkin, Texas to the south, up to north of Broken Bow, Oklahoma. The storm threat will extend beyond those areas, but it will encompass most of the Ark-La-Tex.

The National Weather Service is advising that severe thunderstorms, damaging wind gusts, large hail, and tornadoes are possible with these storms. While no watches or warnings are issued as of 11:15am, the National Weather Service does have a "threat level" outlook for the area.

Shreveport and Bossier will be under the "Slight" level of threat, with suggests the chance for scattered severe storms tonight. Tyler, Texas through Texarkana will be under the "Enhanced" level of threat, which comes with the possibility for numerous strong storms.

Areas east of Shreveport, including Ruston and Monroe, are also included in the "Slight" designation. While areas to the south, like Natchitoches, are designated as "Marginal", with no severe storms expected.

The National Weather Service says the timing of the storms will have them arriving in the Ark-La-Tex between 6pm and 3am. The Shreveport and Bossier City areas can expect to see the storm system arrive around 9pm and 12am. These are just estimates from the National Weather Service, and are not exact.
