Roads have thawed a bit, but driving conditions are still difficult in some parts of north Louisiana. The decision has been made about school for tomorrow. Caddo and Bossier schools will remain closed on Thursday.

What Other Schools Will Be Closed on Thursday

DeSoto Parish schools will remain closed on Thursday. Webster Parish schools will also be closed on Thursday. Too many rural roads still have icy conditions and make it dangerous for driving. There are also concerns about power and water issues at some schools.

Do We Still Have Some Ice Around the Area

Much of the ice in highly traveled areas melted on Wednesday as the temperature climbed above 50 degrees. But we could still see some dangerous driving conditions overnight as our temp dips below freezing. Our temp on Thursday is expected to climb to near 60 and that means a big thaw is on the way.

Superintendent Keith Burton tells KEEL News they did build some snow days built into the schedule and the students will not have to make up the days that were missed because of the winter storm.

Webster Parish Schools will be also be closed on Thursday. Superintendent Johnny Rowland says “out of an abundance of caution, the Webster Parish School System will remain closed.

Bossier Parish Community College will be closed for the rest of the week.

Sabine and Natchitoches Parish schools will be open on Thursday.

Centenary College will be back open on Thursday.

Will Government Offices Be Back Open

Bossier City Mayor Tommy Chandler has announced that Bossier City Hall is open on Thursday and all city employees are to report back to work. Mayor Chandler still encourages employees to be careful and exercise safety while driving. All city services including trash pickup will resume on Thursday.

Shreveport government offices will also be back open on Thursday. Garbage collection will resume on Thursday with the Thursday pickup.

The Shreveport City Courthouse and the offices of the City Marshal’s Office will be back open on Wednesday.

Bossier Parish Community College campuses in Bossier, Natchitoches, and Many will be back open on Thursday.

Public transit will be back up and running.
