Amazon Prime Tricks That Could Save Shreveport Shoppers Money
A lot of Shreveport shoppers use Amazon Prime for the speed and convenience, but convenience can quietly cost you if you are not paying attention. That is the warning from tech expert Kim Komando, who recently told listeners, “You pay $140 a year for Amazon Prime, and Amazon is thanking you by charging you more than non-members on certain items.”
Amazon Prime now costs $14.99 a month or $139 a year, so it makes sense to be sure you are actually getting the value you expect.
That does not mean Prime is a bad deal. But It does mean local shoppers should slow down before they click “Buy Now.”
Prime is Useful, but Might not Always be the Cheapest
Prime still offers real perks, including fast shipping, streaming, special grocery offers, and other member benefits. For plenty of families in Shreveport, Bossier, Haughton, and nearby communities, that convenience can be worth the price all by itself.
Still, the smartest move is to treat Prime like a tool, not a guarantee. Just because an item has the Prime badge does not mean it is the best price available.
The 10-Second Habit that can Save you Money
One of Komando’s simplest tips is also one of the best. She said, “Before you buy anything over $20 on Amazon, do this. Copy the product name. Paste it into Google Shopping. Takes 10 seconds.”

That advice is easy to follow and can make a real difference. A quick price comparison can show whether Amazon, Walmart, Target, or another seller has a better deal. For local shoppers, that can be especially useful on household goods, small electronics, school supplies, and gifts where a few dollars saved here and there starts to add up.
Check the Price History Before Trusting the Sale
Komando also recommends using CamelCamelCamel (a browser extension), as a tool that can track Amazon price history. As she put it, “You’ll see if it’s actually a deal, or if Amazon raised the price to make the discount look good.”

That is worth remembering any time you see a lightning deal, coupon, or limited-time discount. Some of those deals are real. Some only look impressive at first glance.
A Smart Way to Use Prime in Shreveport
For Shreveport shoppers, Amazon Prime can still save money, but only if it is used carefully. Compare prices, check price history, and do not assume fast shipping always means the best value. Prime can be a helpful service, but smart shoppers still need to do a little homework.
In the end, the real savings come from using every tool available, not from assuming one membership will always do the work for you.
