Shreveport Woman Arrested for Aggravated Assault With Firearm

On May 25th, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Shreveport Police officers responded to a call regarding an armed individual at an apartment located in the 3200 block of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Dispatchers noted reports of a female yelling while the caller was on the line with the 911 operator.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that 32-year-old Akira Belion was attempting to enter the residence of her ex-boyfriend. Belion was subsequently arrested on one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. Additionally, it was found that she had an outstanding warrant from an outside jurisdiction.

Belion is currently in custody, and further investigation is ongoing.

Suspects are innocent until proven guilty.

A. Aggravated assault with a firearm is an assault committed with a firearm.

B. For the purposes of this Section, "firearm" is defined as an instrument used in the propulsion of shot, shell, or bullets by the action of gunpowder exploded within it.

C. Whoever commits an aggravated assault with a firearm shall be fined not more than ten thousand dollars or imprisoned for not more than ten years, with or without hard labor, or both.
