Shreveport Man Arrested for Beating Teen With Belt
On October 11, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, Shreveport Police Department juvenile detectives responded to a residence on the 600 block of Darinda Lane for a reported assault and battery. Upon arrival, detectives discovered that a 15-year-old victim had sustained multiple bruises and welts from being struck with a belt by her father, Allen Pennington.
The investigation revealed that Pennington became angry, restrained the victim, and struck her repeatedly. During the assault, the victim reported that Pennington placed his hand across her throat, causing her to struggle for breathe while he continued to strike her.
Following a thorough investigation, an arrest warrant was issued for Pennington. On December 3, 2024, he was taken into custody by the SPD Warrants Unit and charged with felony offenses related to the assault.
The Shreveport Police Department reminds the public that while discipline is an important part of a child's development, any form of discipline that is administered in anger, involves unreasonable pain or suffering, or places a child in danger is illegal and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
