
Pedestrian Hit After Leaving Shreveport Church Has Died
SHREVEPORT, LA – Tragedy in the Allendale community in Shreveport. A horrible accident happened on Sunday afternoon in front of Galilee Baptist Church on Pierre Avenue.
Shreveport police say a driver hit a pedestrian who was crossing the street right in front of the church. The driver did stop and talk with the investigating officers. She told them she was headed east on Pierre Avenue when she hit the man who was trying to cross the street shortly after leaving the church service.
Eyewitnesses have told the officers the man was hit by the passenger side of the car and that sent him tumbling to the ground. As a result of the impact, the man hit his head near the sidewalk and a ditch nearby.
The man was rushed to Ochsner LSU Medical Center with pretty serious injuries. Officers initially though he would survive, but his condition got worse while he was in the hospital. He died on Tuesday.

The crash remains under investigation by SPD, but no ticket was issued to the driver of the car.
The victim’s name has not yet been released.
How Many Fatal Accidents Have Happened in Shreveport This Year?
This is the second fatal crash of the year. 17-year old Elana Franks died as a result of a fatal crash on Fern Avenue on January 9.
There was a also a fatal crash in Caddo Parish on January 11. It happened in the 9700 block of Mansfield Road just outside the city limits. 30-year-old Astrid Joelle Brown died in that crash.
In 2024, 32 people died in traffic accidents in Shreveport. That number was the same in 2023. The city recorded 31 fatal traffic accidents in 2022.
