Shreveport High-Speed Chase Leads to Accident on I-49

On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 during the early morning hours SPD put out a BOLO for 3 stolen Camaro's. A short while later, SPD located one of the stolen Camaro's at an apartment complex on Pines Road.

At 2:03pm an SPD Officer noticed a Camaro traveling on I-49S near W. 70th that fit the description of one of the stolen Camaro's and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.

The driver refused to stop and accelerated at a high rate of speed. As the fleeing vehicle exited off I-49S onto the 3131E overpass, the driver lost control of the Camaro and hit the barrier walls multiple times before coming to a complete stop.

The 19 year-old male suspect was taken into custody and transported to Oschner LSU Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. SPD says he will be booked into the city jail upon release from the hospital on multiple charges.

There was a minor accident in this same area involving a SPD Officer and a Kia, no injuries were reported.
