Shreveport Murder-Suicide Victims Named by Caddo Coroner

A man and woman killed late Friday, November 3, 2023, in an apparent murder-suicide in Shreveport's Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood, have been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Desmond Edwards of Shreveport, 37, burst into a residence in the 1600 block of Mayhaw Circle, just after 10:20 p.m. Inside, he found and shot his estranged wife, 36-year-old Lakerrica Washington. He then shot himself.

Both Edwards and Ms. Washington were deceased at 10:36 p.m.

The deaths remain under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department, to which further media inquiries should be directed.

Autopsies were ordered for both decedents.

Ms. Washington's slaying is the 68th homicide in Caddo Parish to date in 2023, and the 63rd such death in Shreveport proper.
