Shreveport Police Officer Arrested for Driving While Intoxicated
The Shreveport Police Department is committed to transparency and accountability, no matter who is involved.
Saturday morning, Shreveport Police made a traffic stop on Line Avenue after seeing a car traveling at an excessive speed. The driver, identified as Gregory Blue, was arrested and charged with first-offense driving while intoxicated.
Blue has been a Shreveport Police Officer since 2019. After being told of the arrest, Shreveport Police Chief Wayne Smith immediately placed Blue on leave.
From SPD Chief Wayne Smith:
“This is an unfortunate incident, but our responsibility to the public requires us to remain transparent. Impaired driving is dangerous, and every individual will be held to the same standard.”
The arrest was made by members of the Shreveport Police Department’s DWI Unit. The department will continue to take impaired driving seriously and enforce the law fairly and consistently, regardless of a person’s position or employment.
