Shreveport Man Arrested for Punching a Police Officer
On July 22nd at 11:45 p.m. Shreveport Police responded to the 300 block of Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway to assist local casino security personnel with a man who was refusing to leave the premises. Upon arrival, officers attempted to de-escalate the situation.
However, 33-year-old Samuel Parks punched the responding officer. After a brief struggle, Parks was taken into custody. He has been charged with one count of battery of a police officer, entering and remaining after being forbidden, and resisting an officer.
Fortunately, the officer was not injured during the incident.
The goal of the Shreveport Police Department is to uphold professionalism and demonstrate restraint when handling situations, striving to resolve them peacefully whenever possible. However, officers are prepared to use necessary force to defend themselves and ensure arrests are made when required.
