Shreveport Police Arrest Man in Valentine’s Day Rape Investigation
On February 24, 2026, the Shreveport Police Department announced the arrest of Errick Crockerem in connection with a sexual assault reported earlier this month. The investigation began on the morning of February 14, when detectives with the Sex Crimes Unit were alerted to an assault involving a 25-year-old victim.
Upon receiving the report, Shreveport detectives initiated a comprehensive investigation. Officials worked in close coordination with a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) to gather evidence and provide specialized care. Through the investigative process, detectives developed sufficient probable cause to charge Errick Crockerem with one count of Third Degree Rape.
Understanding the Charges Under Louisiana Law
Under Louisiana statutes, Third Degree Rape involves non-consensual sexual intercourse (anal, oral, or vaginal) under specific circumstances. According to the police department, these legal parameters include:
- When the victim is unable to resist or understand the act due to intoxication or other conditions, and the offender was aware of that incapacity.
- When the victim has an "unsoundness of mind" that prevents them from understanding the nature of the act.
- When the offender uses deception or concealment to lead the victim to believe they are someone else.
- Any instance where the act is committed without the victim's lawful consent.
If convicted of the charge, Crockerem faces a potential sentence of up to 25 years in prison.
Commitment to Victim Support
The Shreveport Police Department emphasized that all reports of sexual violence are handled with the highest priority. "The department remains committed to supporting victims while thoroughly investigating these crimes to ensure justice is served," the agency stated in a release.
