Shreveport Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit has arrested a man following an investigation into a domestic violence incident.
Officers were contacted by the victim, who reported that her ex-boyfriend, 44 year-old Trimell Washington, had assaulted and strangled her. Officers met with the victim at another location, where she told SPD that Washington followed her from work to Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway.
The victim told Police that Washington hit her in the face and used his forearm to strangle her during the violent altercation. According to SPD, the victim and offender had dated for around three months before ending their relationship.
Investigators followed up with the victim, who provided video and audio recordings related to the incident. An arrest warrant was obtained through the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office charging Washington with one count of Battery of a Dating Partner by Strangulation.
Washington has since been taken into custody.
