Shreveport Police Arrest Teen for Possession of a Handgun

Late last week, Shreveport Police investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the 6100 block of Fairfield Avenue.

The warrant was obtained following an investigation involving juveniles reportedly possessing firearms, shooting at people in the area, and threatening family members.

Detectives reviewed several related reports and conducted interviews that led to the issuance of a search warrant. Investigators also learned that two individuals associated with the home named in the search warrant had outstanding warrants through the Property Crimes Unit.

When the warrant was executed, SPD Officers found two juveniles and were able to recover two firearms. SPD found a 9mm semi-automatic handgun and a .380 semi-automatic handgun. The guns were taken by Police and submitted to the Shreveport Police Department Property Unit for processing.

17 year-old Anthony Ashby, was arrested and charged with:

· Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile

· Possession of a Firearm in a Firearm-Free Zone

· Aggravated Property Damage

· Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

· Illegal Use of a Weapon

According to SPD, the investigation remains ongoing.
