Shreveport’s 42nd Homicide Victim Named By Coroner

A Shreveport man who was shot multiple times while riding as a passenger in a van in Mooretown Friday, October 4, 2024, has been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Tracey Chapman, 43, was at the intersection of Powell and Singletary streets when bullets struck Chapman, mortally wounding him. He was taken to Willis-Knighton Medical Center on Greenwood Road where he succumbed to his wounds at 7:40 a.m.

He was positively identified through fingerprint comparison.

Shreveport police continue to investigate the slaying, the 42nd homicide inside the city limits to date in 2024 and the 45th such death in Caddo Parish in that time.

An autopsy was ordered.
