Southwest Shreveport’s Southern Hills Pool Ready for Grand Reopening Celebration Sunday
Good news for southwest Shreveport residents. After weeks of delays and construction issues, the Southern Hills Pool is finished and it's ready to open for business.
The pool is opening this weekend and it will be open on weekends through the month of September. Residents have been anxiously awaiting the return of this big pool. Guests will find it has an all new surface and the deck around the pool has been replaced. The big slide is also ready for swimmers and it's in great shape.
What Will Be the Hours for the Southern Hills Pool in Shreveport
The pool will open to the public from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday throughout the month of September, giving families an opportunity to beat the summer heat while enjoying the pool even as the traditional summer swimming season comes to an end.
SPAR is hosting a big grand reopening event at the Southern Hills Park on Sunday September 6 with free hot dogs and snow cones for the first 500 people. There will also be music provided by 3Feet. This celebration is free and open to the public.
SPAR Director Shelly Ragle says “for months, one of the questions we’ve heard over and over again is, ‘When is Southern Hills Pool going to be finished?’ Well, we finally have the answer - it’s finished, and we’re ready to welcome everyone back.
She adds: “we appreciate the community’s patience and excitement as we worked to get to this point. Now it’s time to open the gates, get in the water and celebrate this beautiful new pool together.”
The Airport Park Pool will close after this weekend. All of the other city pools closed earlier in the summer.
What Other Programs Will Be Offered at the Southern Hills Pool
Beginning Tuesday, September 8, the Southern Hills Pool will be offering senior water aerobics, providing older adults with an additional opportunity for low-impact exercise and recreation at the newly completed facility. For more information about the class interested people can call 318-465-3684.
As Southern Hills begins its extended September season, Airport Park Pool will close for the season on Labor Day, Monday, September 7. SPAR thanks residents for a great summer at City pools and encourages families to take advantage of the additional September weekends at Southern Hills Pool. The price for swimming at the Southern Hills pool is $3.50 a person.
