Thrill or Chill? Find the Perfect Ride for You at the State Fair of Louisiana

The State Fair of Louisiana opens tomorrow. If I think back to my years of going to the State Fair in Baton Rouge as a child, nothing is more clear than some of the rides I went on with my Dad.

Dad's favorite ride was the tilt-a-whirl. We could all pile into one car and twirl around. My brothers would always try to make our car spin. I would be pressed up tight against Dad as he was squealing like a child. Those memories will be with me forever.

State Fair Dates in Shreveport

The State Fair of Louisiana returns to the Louisiana State Fairgrounds in Shreveport from October 30 through November 16. More than 300,000 visitors are expected to visit the area during the fair.

State Fair Hours of Operation

On weekdays (Wednesday through Friday) the fair opens at 11:00 a.m. and closes at  9:00 p.m..

On weekends (Saturday and Sunday) the fun runs from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m..

State Fair Ticket Discounts & Offers

Great deals are available if you plan ahead:

If you buy now, you can get tickets online or at select stores (such as Brookshire’s and Super 1 Foods) through October 29: Adults $11.50; children (ages 3–12) $9.25.

On weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., gate admission is free.

Regular admission prices go up after opening day to $17 for adults and $9 for children ages 3–12.

Children under age 3 are admitted for free.

Pay One Price for All You Can Ride

Wristbands for all you can ride are $43.75 through October 29. If you love rides like I do, you should snag these passes before the deadline passes.
