No Degree But Want To Teach? Become A Texas Substitute

Texas needs teachers. Actually, pretty much every state needs teachers.

In a lot of states, teachers are overworked and underpaid...actually, come to think of it, that's pretty much everyone who doesn't have "CEO" in their title. But anyway...back to teaching.

"Texas offers plenty of opportunities for aspiring teachers. Just like in many other parts of the world, there is currently a shortage of qualified teachers in this state too. So, if you have been toying with the idea of becoming a certified teacher in Texas, now is the time to start. Nearly, 40% of the Texan population is 18 or below. That means the demand for teachers will only increase in this state."

The qualifications to be a full time teacher in the State of Texas are pretty rigorous, including Bachelor's degrees, training programs, certifications, and more. But to be a substitute teacher, you actually don't need a lot of these qualifications.

While the State of Texas has overall rules to be full time teachers, according to HelloSubs, each Texas school system can set their own requirements for substitute teachers. Meaning that some schools can be very strict, and still require the same qualifications that the state does for full time teachers, others can lower their standards.

If you want to make sure you're in a good position to be a substitute in the state, there are also options to gain certifications that could be recognized by districts. These don't carry the same qualification as a Bachelor's degree, but some districts will use them to approve subs for their classrooms.
