Uber’s New “Ride Easy” Could Help Shreveport-Bossier Seniors 

Getting older should not mean shrinking your world to whatever is within driving distance. Uber says it is trying to make that less likely with a new set of features called Ride Easy, built to simplify how older adults request rides and how family members can help when needed. 

What Uber just rolled out 

Uber is launching Senior Accounts, described as a simpler Uber experience for older adults with larger text, fewer buttons, and easier-to-follow screens. These senior accounts live inside Uber’s Family Profiles, meaning a loved one can help set up the account, book rides for the senior, and contact a driver if something feels off. 

Uber is also adding Simple Mode for older adults who do not want the Family Profile setup. Simple mode is still designed to reduce clutter and make the app easier to use, but it keeps the account fully independent. 

The Features that Matter Most for Real Life 

Uber lists a few practical tools that stand out for seniors and caregivers: 

• Saved places for repeat stops like home, church, the pharmacy, or the doctor’s office 
• Trip updates so family can follow along in real time and get delay alerts 
• Flexible payments, including using a family member’s card, or a Medicare Flex card for eligible medical rides 

Uber also says it built the features with input from older adults and accessibility experts. 

Why This Hits Home in Northwest Louisiana 

Shreveport-Bossier families know the transportation puzzle well. Plenty of seniors stay active, but driving at night, navigating construction, or handling long appointments can become a real stress point for both the older adult and the family member trying to help from across town. 

Uber is betting that the need is only going to grow. The World Health Organization says that by 2030, 1 in 6 people worldwide will be age 60 or older. That trend shows up locally, too, as more families juggle work schedules while trying to keep parents and grandparents connected to the places that matter. 

Uber says Ride Easy is available nationwide across the U.S.
