See Pictures From The Krewe Of Centaur’s 2010 Grand Bal
Time certainly flies, especially when Mardi Gras season goes year-round in Shreveport. At least it does for the Krewe of Centaur. Members of the krewe work all year on their floats, their costumes, and events that take place in spring, summer, fall, and winter.
For some, it might feel like just last Mardi Gras season as we look back at the Krewe of Centaur's Grand Bal XIX, which was held in January of 2010...over 15 years ago.
It's hard to believe that was a decade and a half ago. Honestly 2010 doesn't feel that long ago, but here we are. It's a crazy reminder of how long the Krewe of Centaur has been a cornerstone of the Shreveport-Bossier City celebration.
Remembering the 2010 Krewe of Centaur Parade Theme
Grand Bal XIX was part of the 2010 Mardi Gras season, and that year the Krewe of Centaur's theme was 'As Southern As It Gets'. Which was reflected in the bal, and the invitations that year even had the theme as the title.
The royalty all had amazing costumes for the evening, and was led by Captain Dana Bridges. The King for the season was Shelton Floyd, and the Queen was Judy Miller. The royalty from the previous season, King Ricky Bridges and Queen Becky Ponder Burt, were there to greet the new royalty as well.
Still the Biggest Krewe In North Louisiana
What's really impressive is that 15 years later, Centaur is still leading the pack. They are, without a doubt, the largest Mardi Gras Krewe in North Louisiana, now with more than 750 members.
The krewe has been dedicated to building a better community and just providing good, family-friendly fun for decades. It's a great local tradition that is still rolling strong today, bringing hundreds-of-thousands of revelers to the parade route across Shreveport.
The Next Krewe Of Centaur Grand Bal
Heading into the 2026 Mardi Gras season, things are heating up. The Krewe of Centaur has held their Midway coronation to announce the season's royalty, and now 12th Night is next up. That will take place Saturday, January 3rd, 2026. The event is held at the Bossier Civic Center, and is open to the public. It's the best way to really kick the Mardi Gras season into overdrive.
But after that, its onto the Grand Bal. Looking at where the Centaur Grand Bal is today from where it was 15 years ago will warm your heart. The growth in the krewe has been truly amazing, and you can see it for yourself in the pictures. Centaur's Grand Bal XXXIV will be held Saturday January 24th, 2026 at the Shreveport Convention Center. It's a black tie affair, with dinner, dancing, and open bar. You can get tickets here.
But for now, lets take a step back, all the way back to 2010. Check out what the Grand Bal looked like in 2010...
