Local Drummer Joins Primus For A Hometown Performance

In case you haven't heard, legendary alternative rock band Primus is coming to Shreveport this month on their 'Onward & Upward' summer tour! The madness happens at Shreveport's historic Municipal Auditorium with special guests MonoNeon on July 29th.

This show is guaranteed to be a funky, rocking, and weird good time! I mean a Primus show is always a bit weird, a bit funky, and a whole lot of fun!

But this show will be a bit more special than their last couple of trips through Shreveport-Bossier. Because, for the first time as a member of the band, Shreveporter John Hoffman will be taking the stage with the band! He earned a spot as their new drummer after a lengthy search back in February.

If you're not familiar with John's story, you can read all about it here. But, if you don't want to read the full story, here's the cliff notes: John is a long time Shreveport resident. He's been in tons of local bands including the Stiff Necked Fools and Dirtfoot.

In November of 2024, Primus and long-time drummer Herb Alexander parted way and Primus announced they would be hosting a global search for their new drummer. The band recieved THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of entries. And when the smoke cleared, John was the guy. Pretty cool, right? And now, Hoffman is playing with one of his favorite bands and is coming home to celebrate with all of us!  Pretty cool, right?
