Betting Favorite to be Dallas Cowboys Next Coach
Many Dallas Cowboys fans aren't shocked, but the Cowboys will have a new head coach in 2025. The team and current head coach Mike McCarthy couldn't agree to terms on a new contract, making him a coaching free agent. This is a very odd scenario, because other teams have reached out to the Cowboys for permission to interview McCarthy for their coaching vacancies, but the Cowboys told them "no".
Then, just days later, the team decides they won't keep McCarthy, and he can go interview for those other openings.
That whole story is a fun storyline, but the more entertaining story is soon to be the coaching search the Dallas Cowboys are about to put on. This circus has the chance to be the most ridiculous coaching search in the modern era.
Names getting flung around as possibilities for the Cowboys head coach spot are very strong and logical coaching choices, which is why they probably won't work with Jerry Jones. Then there are wild thoughts about guys that have never coached in the NFL before who could take over, which could be a really exciting media exercise. And of course, there are college coaching names getting tossed around.
Without passing judgment on any of these specific names, we thought we'd just list for you the betting odds that some have published online so far. Here are betting odds posted on 1/3/25:
Joe Brady +500
Deion Sanders +600
