Former North Louisiana Football Star Signs With Houston Texans
A former North Webster Knight and LSU Tiger football star will have a new home in the NFL. Super Bowl champion linebacker Devin White has signed with the Houston Texans.
White started this season with the Philadelphia Eagles, at least with the organization. He signed a one year, $4 million contract with the team, but never played a down for them. White was listed as "inactive" for the team's first 4 games, and then missed the team's 5th game due to "personal reasons".
After his amazing career at LSU, White was became a First Round draft pick (#5 overall) in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he would play the first 5 years of his NFL career. While in Tampa, he won Super Bowl LV, was named Second-Team All Pro, made the Pro Bowl, and All-Rookie Team.
But his time with the Bucs ended on a sour note. Towards the end, White requested a trade, and dealt with numerous injuries in the 2023 season. Before that, he started 13 games for the Bucs in his final season with the team.
Now in Houston, the 26-year-old White may have a chance to hit the field right away. The Texans are dealing with numerous injuries on defense, especially with their linebackers. Azeez Al-Shaair and Henry To'oTo'o have both dealt with injury issues this year, which could open the door for White.
This could be a great situation for White as well, Texans Head Coach DeMeco Ryans is a former All Pro linebacker who can really help White on the field.
