Whether you're watching your NFL team at the stadium, in a sports bar, or on your couch, you've probably let a dirty word slip. Maybe in excitement, but probably in an angry or disappointed way. We're not here to shame, that's normal.
But it turns out some fanbases might be a little dirtier than others. Well, from what we all can see at least. The team at VegasInsider.com has analyzed over 1.2 million online comments on the site Reddit, spread across the subreddits for every NFL Team. While they were setting out to find what fans were the nicest and most polite, they did end up finding the other end of that spectrum too.
How Foul-Mouthed Are Dallas Cowboys Fans?
It turns out that Dallas Cowboys fans are the 3rd Most Foul-Mouthed, based on research. But not just that, Cowboys fans are also the 2nd Most Negative Fans in the NFL according to the research.

For context, the Indianapolis Colts were found to have THE Most Foul-Mouthed fans, with 16.4% of their comments contained some form of a swear word. The Cincinnati Bengals had the 2nd Most Foul-Mouthed fans, with 15.9% of their comments triggering the count. While Cowboys fans swore in 15.3% of their comments.
What NFL Fans Swear The Least?
It turns out fans of the Los Angeles Chargers swear the least. Only 10.9% of their comments included a swear word. Buffalo Bills fans were second, with just 11% of their comments having swear words.
Interestingly, the distance between the most swear words and least swear words is less than 6% of comments. Meaning that all NFL fanbases have some colorful language in their online vocabularies, if not their every day vocabularies.
How Much Do New Orleans Saints Fans Swear?
The research says fans of the New Orleans Saints swear in 14.3% of their online posts, which places them at the 6th Most Foul-Mouthed fanbase. They're tied with fans of the New York Jets, and Atlanta Falcons.
Saints fans reading their tied with the Falcons probably just added a few to the Saints column, so maybe they broke the tie.
Are Houston Texans Fans Polite?
It turns out, fans of the Houston Texans are probably the nicest in the south. The research ranks them as the 3rd Most Polite Fanbase, with fans swearing in 11.1% of their posts. The only other team considered 'polite' in the research that is geographically south are the Jacksonville Jaguars.
