Louisiana Police Officer Suddenly Dies While on Duty

The law enforcement community across Louisiana is mourning the loss of Corporal Pricilla Dean Pierson of the Ponchatoula Police Department.

In a social media post by the Ponchatoula Police Department, it was announced that Cpl. Pierson died while on duty Tuesday morning.

Concerned citizens called for help after noticing the officer was unresponsive in a Rouses Supermarket parking lot.

Authorities responded to the call and that is when the corner's office was also called to the scene. Sadly, Cpl. Pierson was pronounced dead at the scene and her cause of death has been ruled as heart failure.

According to the social media post by her department, "Cpl. Pierson bravely served the department for six years. She began her career as a part-time communications officer and earned her current position as a Cpl. in the patrol division."

Cpl. Pierson leaves her husband, Larry Pierson, three children, and two step-children behind. Our thoughts are with the Ponchatoula Police Department and her family during this difficult time.
