Chicken Nuggets/Tenders Recalled – What Louisiana Should Know
The Food Safety Inspection Service of the United States Department of Agriculture has a word of caution for Louisiana shoppers in Shreveport, Lafayette, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Alexandria. In fact, any place in the state where ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and chicken tenders are sold frozen and ready to heat and eat should pay attention to this recall notice.
According to the FSIS, the recall affects some 167,171 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken nuggets and chicken tender products. The products could have possibly been contaminated with foreign material. The press release from the USDA and FSIS suggests that the foreign material might be metallic in nature.
Here is what we know about the recalled products. The recall was initiated by Perdue Foods LLC of Perry Georgia. Based on the FSIS press release, the following products are under scrutiny.
- 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.
- 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages containing “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS with Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” represented on the back of the package.

If you would like to see the product labeling you may see that here. Use the information on the labels or what we have reported above to see if the product that you have in your home is part of the recall.
According to Perdue Foods the recall was initiated when consumer complaints of metal wire embedded in the product were received. However, it should be noted that there have been no reports of adverse reactions from consumers because of consumption of these products. Get product refund and replacement information, here.
Because the production date on these products was listed as March 23, 2024, it is entirely possible that some consumers could have purchased these items and then stored them in a freezer for future use. If you have frozen ready-to-eat chicken nuggets or chicken tenders in your freezer be sure to check the labeling before serving to your family.
