Former LSU Star Jayden Daniels’ Mom Implicated by NCAA

Tomorrow night should be a big night for former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels who wowed the Tiger faithful in Baton Rouge all football season long is expected to take the next step in his football career tomorrow. Daniels is forecast to be one of the top picks in Thursday's first round of the National Football League Draft.

Many pundits have Daniels going as high as the number two pick overall on Thursday. Of course, none of this would have been possible had Daniels not decided to transfer from Arizona State University to Louisiana State University in 2022. It turns out that was a great decision for Daniels and it didn't work out too badly for LSU either.

Meanwhile, back at Daniels's old school, Arizona State, the wheels have come completely off the wagon to use the vernacular of the old West. The Sun Devils fired then-head coach Herm Edwards in September of 2022 and things have gotten even worse.

Arizona State released news yesterday that Edwards had been handed what is considered to be the longest "show-cause" penalty a head football coach has ever received from the NCAA. The penalty was handed down because of alleged recruiting violations involving more than 30 student-athletes. The ruling stated that Edwards participated in the impermissible recruiting sessions and even rented a house near campus specifically for meeting with recruits.

The penalty handed down by the NCAA also included six other ASU staffers. And the University also agreed to disassociate for five years with Regina Jackson.

Mrs. Jackson is the mother of former ASU and LSU standout player, Jayden Daniels. It was alleged that Jackson arranged to pay airfare for potential recruits to visit ASU. It is also alleged that Jackson arranged for lodging while the recruits were in town.

The NCAA allegations also concluded that Arizona State "failed to monitor" the goings on in the football program too. For their part in the violations of the Sun Devil football program, the school will vacate nine of ten wins earned by the football team in 2021 and 2022. The punishment for Edwards and ASU began on April 15, 2024.
