What Charges Could He Face?

Under Louisiana’s general theft statute, theft of property valued at $25,000 or more is a felony and can carry up to 20 years in prison at hard labor, a fine up to $50,000, or both.

However, in Louisiana, stealing packages carries additional penalties.

From shreveportbar.com -

"Louisiana law also notes that theft of delivered packages (sometimes called “porch piracy”) can itself carry enhanced penalties — even when the value is small — with potential imprisonment up to 2 years or a fine up to $2,000 for taking packages delivered to someone else’s home."

This investigation is ongoing.
