Louisiana Has 19 UFO Sightings So Far in 2024, Here's Where

In 2023, the National UFO Reporting Center documented 30 UFO sightings across Louisiana.

While 2024 started with fewer reports, sightings have surged in recent months.

So far this year, Louisiana has seen 19 new UFO sightings, with 7 of the 19 recent reports coming from right here in Acadiana.

Louisiana UFO Sightings 2024

Of the 19 UFO reports in Louisiana, three of them happened in Lafayette, one in Duson, one sighting in Youngsville, one in Cypremort Point, and one in Maurice.

The first report of 2024 happened only a week into the new year and the latest report happened in September.

Although there have been 19 UFO sightings reported to the National UFO Reporting Center, there certainly have been many more that have gone unreported.

Many people encounter unexplained phenomena but hesitate to report UFO sightings, either due to uncertainty about where to report them or fear of being ridiculed.

UFO sightings are often linked to conspiracy theories and science fiction, causing witnesses to worry about being labeled as delusional or attention-seeking.

Privacy concerns are also common, with some fearing unwanted media exposure or attention from UFO enthusiasts when sharing their experiences.

Before we move forward, just know that if you do see something like a UFO, you can report your experience anonymously to the National UFO Reporting Center and they will investigate and document the experience.

01/07/2024 - Natchitoches, Louisiana

Object Reported - Sphere

Characteristics - Lights on object, Aura or haze around object, Emitted other objects, Emitted beams

"Bright sphere that produced no sound. Object was a bright white sphere in a self induced haze it shot a smoke ring-style light from the front of the craft that expanded into the air. It traveled for about two minutes and disappeared into a cloud."

01/10/2024 - Hebert, Louisiana

Object Reported - Metallica/Silver Teardrop

Characteristics - Aura or haze around object

"My children and I had just left the Dollar General in Hebert, Louisiana and as I was driving we all saw a metallic/silvery teardrop object appear out of thin air in a perfectly clear blue sky (no clouds). As I was reaching for my phone out of my pocket and to pull aside on the road for a video/picture it created some sort of fog or cloud around itself and it disappeared. This was not a balloon, helicopter, air plane, nor a blimp."

02/28/2024 - Homa, Louisiana

Object Reported - Circle

Characteristics - Huge orange red plasma ball.

"My husband and I seen a huge orange red Plasma ball traveling upward. All the light had went out in our whole town. I realized I had my phone in my hand and started videoing, zoomed in and it looked light a tic tac shape. After we watched video we also seen a multi color light shot from ground upward as it passed."

04/10/2024 - Duson, Louisiana

Object Reported - Circle

Characteristics - Small fast moving white or light objects in sky all directions.

"I was out with my camera taking photos of sunset. At least 80 or more small lights darting across the sky. All directions really fast. Some hovered briefly then darted off fast."

04/13/2024 - Lafayette, Louisiana

Object Reported - Other

Characteristics - A straight line with 23 lights steering slowly a but faster than airplane.

"At first appeared to be a slow comet but when overhead it appeared to be an airplane exhaust but with 23 lights in a straight line heading East South East from River Road near the Lafayette regional airport. I would guess a similar altitude of an airplane moving faster 1000 mph or more..."

"I am a military trained observer with combat and I am spotting these more and more from different locations around the same time 6 pm - 9 pm and some occasions and early night hours."

"After seeing these orbs, I backed my truck up to get my phone inside my house to take a photo and came back outside and the orbs were gone. It looked like a satellite deployment but it seems like they would not have disappeared within the 30 seconds it took me to backup in my truck, run in the house and look back to the NW.

There was a main larger orb in front and smaller orbs following the front orb."

06/01/2024 - Maurice, Louisiana

"See the same orb at least twice a week.

It is now following me to my work 10 miles away."

06/08/2024 - Des Allemands, Louisiana

Object Reported - Flash

Characteristics - Flashing light hovering for several minutes.

"While enjoying the day in our swimming pool my wife noticed a flashing reflection of light hovering well above cloud height that after several minutes proceeded to move north/northwest and eventually disappearing. There was no vapor trail or any other sort of exhaust trail sighted and it was far beyond the height of a helicopter."

06/23/2024 - Lafayette, Louisiana

Object Reported - Stationary cylinder

Characteristics - Stationary cylinder that quickly disappeared after several minutes.

"While jogging at night and heading generally northwest on Shelly drive, my daughter and I both saw a grey cylinder motionless in the air. We thought maybe a blimp, but there were no navigation blinking lights on it. There was no sound coming from it. We thought maybe an odd cloud or something, but it was very well defined in the shape of a cylinder, essentially the shape of a commercial aircraft fuselage without a nose, tail, or wings."

"I was driving home in the middle of nowhere when I seen a line of 7 lights moving slow disappearing and reappearing in a different spot

It was 7 led looking lights in a line moving slowly . It disappeared and sowed back up in a different spot."

"The feeling was unreal this is my 4th sighting in 63 years.

It looked like 2 disk, one on top one on bottom with a clear light or windows between the two. I’m sure it is only one UFO."

"Multiple objects flying in the sky. I watched for 45 minutes then went back inside. The objects where at different heights, they show up and disappear.

I didn't see the line of star link and what I seen was in just 1 spot. It was a clear sky, they were white and gold color. Also have video of a helicopter flying with the light disappearing then coming back the helicopter was much higher than the objects."

08/24/2024 - New Orleans, Louisiana

"We were excited to experience the New Orleans culture. However, as hours passed, we all started to experience strange things.

I went across the room to sit on the left side of the bed. However, I was stopped in my tracks in front of the bed, facing towards the bedroom door. I immediately saw 5 yellowish white orbs levitating in front of me as if they were looking right at me."

"I have a camera installed on my family's property and the past several nights I've noticed some strange activity on camera. This light was moving very erratic, and it last for hours. Sometimes it would stand still as if it was a star, then it would start again."

"The object was moving at a very low altitude and a very low speed. It was a very long object that made absolutely no mechanical noise. I heard some air moving around the object but heard no other noise. After a few seconds of looking at it fly over the house, I took out my phone and recorded a video of it."
