Saturday night was a night of triumph across Louisiana. In Baton Rouge, many fingernails were gnawed down to nothing as LSU defeated Ole Miss in an overtime thriller of a college football game. A few miles to the west, Louisiana's Ragin Cajuns were disposing of their North Carolina nemesis Appalachian State.

And right about the time both of those college football games were ending, the Louisiana Lottery jumped in with some "big win" news of their own.

Why yes, the Louisiana Lottery's big win news did involve the multi-state lottery game Powerball. The jackpot on Saturday night had been growing since early August. And when the ping pong balls dropped from both Powerball hoppers just before 10 last night the estimated top prize in the game was $371 million.

To win the jackpot in Powerball a ticket purchaser must successfully match five "white ball" numbers and one "red ball" Powerball number. The white balls range from 1 to 69. The red Powerballs range from 1 to 26. It's no easy feat, perhaps that's why no one has managed to do it since August 4th of this year.

Here is how the Powerball drawing for Saturday, October 12, 2024, played out.

I am sure you're thinking the same thing I am thinking after watching that drawing. Did host Laura Johnson change her hair color? The ladies in the office say no. They think she may have just refreshed her highlights. Regardless, she looked like she was ready to turn those Powerball numbers into cold hard cash.

Our sources at Powerball confirmed late Saturday that the game produced a lot of winning tickets. However, none of those tickets matched the numbers needed for the $371 million to go home with them.

There were some Match 5 Million winners. A ticket in Tennessee earned a million-dollar prize. Meanwhile, in Connecticut, a Powerball player there matched all five numbers and had the Power Play option invoked. That ticket is worth $2 million this morning.

Those tickets were the top two winners in Saturday's Powerball drawing but a Louisiana-sold ticket earned the third-highest prize of the night. We double-checked and confirmed the news with our sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge and we can say with all certainty that a $150,000 winner was sold in Louisiana.

If you didn't watch the drawing I am sure you'll want to know what the numbers drawn were. Here is what we saw.

05   14   20   41   57   Powerball  06    Power Play x3

Hopefully, those numbers are showing up somewhere on your Powerball ticket. Please remember to verify those numbers at either the Official Powerball Website or the Official Louisiana Lottery Website. Those sites are the official sites of record. They can also advise on prize redemption and the value of the prize you hope to claim.

In Louisiana, our sources at the Louisiana Lottery tell us the big winner was purchased in the town of Walker. The ticket was purchased at Swifty's #38 on South Walker Road. The ticket matched the Powerball and four of the five white balls.  The ticket was one of eight sold across the Powerball footprint for Saturday's game that matched that same prize scenario.

The Louisiana Lottery also confirmed that there were no jackpot winners in the Lotto game nor the Easy 5 game which also holds drawings on Saturday night. The Powerball jackpot will grow to an estimated $388 million for Monday's drawing. The $388 million estimation is for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum or cash prize is estimated to be $186.7 million should you win and choose that option.
