This Secluded ‘Hidden’ State Park Being Called the Best in Louisiana

Summer time means travel, vacations, and spending more time outdoors. Some of our favorite places to spend time outdoors and unwind is at Louisiana's fantastic state parks.

Even though all of Louisiana's state parks are pretty remarkable, there is one "secret" state park that is so remote you may not have ever even heard of it.

This "secret" state park is being heralded as one of the best state parks, if not the best state park in Louisiana!

In all, Louisiana has a whopping 38 state parks according to crt.state.la.us, and each one comes with its own unique offerings.

These parks offer a variety of recreational activities, including camping, hiking, boating, and wildlife viewing, and more.

Grand Isle State Park, Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, Bayou Segnette State Park, Palmetto Island State Park, Chicot State Park are just a small handful of stand-out state parks Louisiana has to offer.

However, there is a Louisiana state park that rarely comes up in conversation. It's so secluded and "hidden" that even many life-long Louisianians don't even know about it.

In fact, this "secret" state park is considered by many to be one of, if not the best state park in Louisiana.

Burns Point Park in Franklin, Louisiana

Burns Point Park in Franklin, Louisiana, is a scenic and remote camping destination situated at the end of Highway 317.

Overlooking Bayou Sale Bay, which flows into the Gulf of Mexico, the park offers a peaceful setting for outdoor enthusiasts.

The campground is known for its excellent fishing opportunities, particularly for saltwater species like redfish, which can be caught from the park's pier without needing a boat.

Burns Point Park features full hookups for RVs, including water, electricity, and sewer, at a rate of around $14-$15 per night according to onlyinyourstate.com.

Tent camping is also available for about $10 per night, though the campground does not offer picnic tables or fire pits at the campsites.

You'll also find a boat launch, restrooms with showers, a playground for the kids, and several picnic tables with shelters.
