Target Super Stores have also been focused on cracking down on decreasing shoplifting in their self-checkout areas and in general, and now they are revising a policy that will affect Louisiana shoppers.

Louisiana Target Shoppers Warned About New Return Policy

According to Target's website, they are updating their return policy. Their original return policy was pretty lenient, allowing most items to be returned within 90 days for a full refund or exchange as long as they were still in new condition, even if you lost your receipt.

I have personally never held on to my Target receipts for this reason because I knew they would always look up my purchase by using the card I purchased the item with.

Unfortunately, Target has had to tighten the reigns on their return policy due to return fraud and abuse. The 90 day window still remains for most items and Target brand items can still be returned up to a year. However, you will actually want to keep your physical or digital receipt handy if you think you may have to return the item, otherwise you may be denied the return.

"Target reserves the right to deny returns, refunds and exchanges including but not limited to prevent fraud, suspected fraud or abuse."

Most items still have a 90-day window, and Target brand items can still be returned up to a year.

However, you will want to keep your physical or digital receipt handy if you think you may have to return the item; otherwise, you may be denied the return. Employees don't have to give you an explanation for denying your return or exchange, so keep that in mind.

Target's Updated Return Policy

Most unopened items sold by Target in new condition and returned within 90 days will receive a refund or exchange. The return window for items sold on Target.com begins once the order has been invoiced.

Invoicing happens when any part of the order is shipped, delivered by a Shipt shopper or made ready for pick up. Some items sold by Target have a modified return policy noted on the receipt, packing slip, Target policy board (refund exceptions), Target.com or in the item description. Items that are opened or damaged or do not have a receipt may be denied a refund or exchange.
