Louisiana Ice Cream Lovers: You Could Be Entitled to a Cash Payout Over This Popular Flavor

Louisiana ice cream lovers may have a sweet reward coming their way! If you’ve enjoyed a particular vanilla-flavored ice cream brand over the past eight years, you might be eligible for a cash refund as part of a nearly $9 million settlement.

The payout stems from a class-action lawsuit filed against the ice cream manufacturer. The lawsuit claimed that the labeling of “Natural Vanilla” misled consumers to believe the flavor came exclusively from the vanilla plant. The ice cream also allegedly contained vanilla flavor from non-vanilla plant sources, though the manufacturer denies these claims.

You may qualify for compensation if you bought the vanilla-flavored ice cream between April 21, 2016, and August 14, 2024. Even without proof of purchase, you could still be eligible for up to $8, or $1 per product purchased. If you have receipts, you can claim $1 for each item bought, with no set limit.

It’s important to note that the total payout may decrease if there is a high number of claims, as the $8.85 million settlement fund will be distributed proportionally.

Claims must be filed by February 19, 2025, to get in on this settlement. A limit of one claim per household applies, and you can file online or by mail. A final approval hearing is scheduled for November 21.
