Mega Millions Reveals Big Texas Lottery Win on Tuesday

One of the first big multi-state lottery games the Texas Lottery ever introduced to Texas players, Mega Millions, is about to take a final curtain call. The game, as we know it, will hold its final drawing on Friday, April 8th. Mega Millions has been a part of the Texas Lottery landscape since 2003 and players in the state have certainly won their share of prizes.

Just a few weeks ago a Mega Millions ticket sold in Dallas was a $2 million winner. And, just a few weeks before that a Mega Millions player in Boerne Texas hit with a $40,000 winner. Heck in Tuesday night's drawing the Texas Lottery has already confirmed that 28,590 tickets sold for the game were winners and about 13,000 of those winners opted for the Megaplier in the game.

Here is how Tuesday's drawing unfolded:

The April Fool's Day jackpot for April 1, 2025, was an estimated annuitized $29 million. No tickets sold across the Mega Millions footprint made that match. But, there was a Match 5 Million winner sold in Pennsylvania. To earn the Match 5 Million a ticket must match all five of the white balls but not the Mega Ball.

Our source at the Texas Lottery did confirm a big win in Texas on Tuesday. A ticket sold for the April 1st game matched four of five white balls and the Mega Ball. By rule that ticket is worth $10,000. Since the player opted for the Megaplier the prize was doubled to $20,000. 

Tonight Powerball will draw for an estimated annuitized top prize of $30 million. There will also be a Lotto Texas with Extra! drawing tonight too. The jackpot in that game is $9.5 million.

And just to clear up any confusion about Mega Millions and its "final draw on Friday". It won't be the final drawing in the game. It will be the final drawing in the game under its current jackpot/ big wins scenario.
