Texas Attorney Brittany Lacayo Sets New Record for Widest Tongue in the World

Brittany Lacayo, an attorney from Houston, Texas has just set a new Guinness World Record for having the widest female tongue in the world.

Her record-setting tongue is actually as wide as the average female tongue is long.

Houston, Texas Defense attorney Brittany Lacayo always knew she had a really wide tongue, but never dreamed she had the widest tongue in the world.

Brittany tells guinnessworldrecords.com she's "always known that she possesses an exceptionally large licker – she said her family would often joke about it when she was a young child."

A friend came across a video of Emily Schlenker, the previous World Record holder, and sent it to Brittany thinking she might have Schlenker beat.

Emily Schlenker set the previous record with a tongue width of 2.89 inches.

After seeing the video, Brittany got curious to see how her tongue measured up to the World Record.

To her surprise, her tongue was actually quite a bit wider than the current Word Record.

"Brittany Lacayo’s tongue measures 7.90 cm (3.11 in) at its widest point – that’s wider than a hockey puck and almost as wide as a credit card.

Her tongue is 2.5 cm (1 in) wider than it is long, when measuring length from the tip to the middle of the closed top lip. 

In fact, 7.90 cm is the exact same size as the average length of a woman’s entire tongue when measured from the epiglottis (a flap of cartilage behind the tongue)."
