Louisiana is finally starting to feel like fall as cooler temperatures settle in across the state, and we're finally escaping that seemingly never-ending summer.

The crisp air is a welcome change, and if you’re anything like me, it’s making it much easier to get into the fall spirit (especially when it comes to making gumbo and all those delightful fall favorites).

With Halloween right around the corner and Thanksgiving fast approaching, it’s hard to believe that we’re only 10 weeks away from Christmas. And just one week after that, we’ll be ringing in 2025!

What might be the most difficult thing to wrap our heads around is how quickly 2024 is coming to an end. If your year has been anything like mine, it’s flown by, and I know I could definitely use a break! With the busyness of life, it’s no wonder we’re all feeling the need to slow down and recharge before the holidays.

And if we’re feeling this way, just imagine how retail workers must be feeling, especially as the holiday shopping season ramps up.

There are different ways to tackle Christmas shopping. Some, like my wife, love to shop early and grab gifts throughout the year, finding deals when they can. Others, like me, prefer to wait until the holiday season, picking out something thoughtful in-store when the deals start rolling in.

Speaking of holiday shopping, Walmart has announced that, for the fifth year in a row, all stores across Louisiana will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. This gives their employees time to enjoy the holiday with their families before the busy shopping season officially kicks off on Black Friday.

So, if you’re gearing up for holiday shopping, remember to plan ahead and take advantage of the sales as they come. The countdown to Christmas has officially begun, and with cooler weather here, it’s time to embrace all the season has to offer!
