Texas is one of the biggest states to drive through in the country; thousands of people are on the road at all times. Which means, it pays to be extra careful when driving around other drivers. One wrong move and you could end up crashing your car. In fact we've had some of the BIGGEST accidents on the road in U.S. history.

November 12, 2012, Jefferson County, Texas

It's never fun driving in bad weather; rain, wind, or in this case: fog. And that's exactly what caused this massive 100 car pileup on I-10 in Jefferson County, Texas. 2 elderly women were killed when an 18-wheeler slammed into them after losing sight of what was in front of him in the fog. In total, around 120 people injured from the accident.

February 11, 2021, Fort Worth, Texas

Yes I think we're quite familiar with THIS accident; in the early morning on February 11, 2021, 133 vehicles crashed on I-35W near Downtown Fort Worth, Texas thanks to icy conditions. 65 people were injured (3 critically) and 6 people lost their lives in the accident. Without a doubt it was one of the worst traffic accidents seen in Fort Worth, let alone the state of Texas. Just watching the footage still gives me chills...

How to avoid a traffic accident when driving in Texas

Obviously the biggest things you can do is, when planning a road trip,

  • Check weather conditions as well as checking the condition of your vehicle to make sure it's safe to drive on the highway,
  • Don't drive drowsy or impaired,
  • Pay attention to the other drivers on the road,
  • And most importantly: obey the traffic signs & speed limits
