Jason Derulo Opens Up About Jordin Sparks, ‘Naked’ and New Mixtape
Jason Derulo is giving the scoop about his ex, Jordin Sparks and new music on the way.
In an interview with The Grape Juice, the "Marry Me" singer spoke about his new single, "Naked." The visual is an a homage to D'Angelo's iconic "Untitled" video. And similar to the original classic clip, Derulo bares it all -- literally -- and in the lyrics.
"That's what I wanted to do throughout the whole mixtape. Just be open and uncut, unedited. Whatever what was on my mind at that specific time. Just be truthful. Just be myself," he said of the track and forthcoming music project. K. Michelle also appears in the video -- equally naked. Derulo says his labelmate is a "down ass chick" he appreciates both from an artist's perspective and in everyday life.
As for his ex, Derulo wants to let the song "Naked" speak for him. "I think the song kind of speaks for itself," he said. "It's not like it's a thing or anything. No hard feelings or anything." He also added that he'd give her dap if he saw her -- although there was a time where it wouldn't have.
As for the rest of the project, there's going to be a little bit for everyone. "It's all kinds of things on there." He also mentioned a song that's slated to appear on the album, 'Skip to My Loo," which alludes to a "hood legend" of the same name. The track will get "really deep to what my life is," said Derulo.
